Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Sheinz Productions (“we”) operates the GeoRacer website (georacer.sheinz.org) and the GeoRacer mobile app. Contact: info@sheinz.org.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the site or app, we may collect:

• Identifiers: name or display name, email, device IDs.
• Internet / device data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, app version, diagnostics.
• Precise geolocation and related sensors: GPS start zone, path, finish, and may include latitude, longitude, altitude, heading, speed, and timestamps. We do not record background location when you are not in a race.
• Race activity: course chosen, start/finish times, leaderboard rank.
• Optional race video and audio: recorded only if you agree in the app during an active race. If you do not agree, we do not record race video or audio. Agreed clips may be uploaded to Firebase Storage and stored with the leaderboard entry.
• Photos and videos: camera recording of an active race when you agree in the app, stored with the result.
• Audio: microphone during that recording, only if you agree.
• Advertising ID / device identifiers used by Google AdMob for in-app ads.
• Communications: messages you send to info@sheinz.org.

Precise location is sensitive personal information under California law. We use it only to run and verify the race you start. We do not use precise location for ads.

3. Sources

You (account, contact form, race activity, and optional camera/microphone only if you agree in the app). Your device (GPS and sensors, diagnostics). Hosting and store providers: Vercel (website), Google Play, Google Firebase (Firestore, Storage, analytics, and crash reporting), and Google AdMob. Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage) holds accounts, races, leaderboards, and race video when you agreed to recording. We do not buy personal information from data brokers.

4. How we use it

• Operate GeoRacer: start zones, live tracking, finish times, leaderboards.
• Verify that a person completed the course, detect cheating, handle disputes, and improve integrity.
• If you agree in the app, record video and audio during an active race, store a clip with the leaderboard entry, review it for cheating, and use that clip for GeoRacer promotional material, including GeoRacer Show, social, or similar.
• Show the website and improve the site and app.
• Analytics and crash reporting so we can fix the app.
• Show ads in the app through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers. We do not use precise location for advertising.
• Respond to support and partnership email.
• Security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

5. Sharing

We may share information with:

• Google Firebase (Firestore, Storage, analytics, crash reporting) as the production backend.
• Google AdMob, which may receive device identifiers for ads.
• Vercel and Google Play for hosting and distribution.
• Other players: public leaderboard name and time, and a clip only if you agreed to race video.
• The public, only if you agreed to race video and we use that clip in GeoRacer Show or other promo.
• Authorities if required by law.

We do not sell personal information. Service providers process data only to provide their services to us. In-app ads are limited to AdMob as described above.

6. California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may request to:

• Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
• Access a copy of it.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete it, subject to legal exceptions.
• Opt out of sale or sharing (we do not sell personal information).
• Limit use of sensitive personal information (precise location) to providing GeoRacer.
• Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To submit a request, email info@sheinz.org with the subject “California Privacy Request,” or use the support email on the Contact page in the app. We will verify you (for example by matching the email we have) and respond within 45 days, or notify you if we need more time (up to 90 days). You may use an authorized agent; we may still need to verify you. Some data must be kept to complete a race review, prevent fraud, or meet legal duties.

7. Retention

Race and leaderboard data is kept while the course or board is active and as long as needed to verify results, detect cheating, handle disputes, and meet legal or security duties, then deleted or anonymized. Location traces are collected only during a race. Optional race video and audio exist only if you agreed in the app; those clips are kept with the related entry for verification, anti-cheat, and permitted promo use, then deleted or de-identified when no longer needed. Email is kept as long as the conversation is open, then as required for records.

8. Children

GeoRacer is a general-audience app. Users under 13 may use it only after a parent or legal guardian completes the in-app parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without that consent.

With consent, we collect the same race data described above (account name, optional email, GPS during a race, optional race video and audio, and ad identifiers). A parent may review, correct, or delete that information, or withdraw consent, by emailing info@sheinz.org or using georacer.sheinz.org/delete. If we learn we collected from a child under 13 without consent, we delete it.

If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must agree to the GeoRacer Legal Agreement and supervise use.

9. Security and transfers

We use standard hosting security (HTTPS, access controls). No method is 100% secure. Firebase, AdMob, Vercel, and Google Play may process data in the United States.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date above will change. Continued use of the site or app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
